Main research and technological activities

Nanostine is a deep-tech company specialized in the development of advanced nanostructured coatings for high-value industrial applications. As a spin-off from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), we transform cutting-edge nanotechnology research into scalable industrial solutions that enhance the surface properties of materials and components.

Our proprietary platform is based on ultra-high vacuum physical vapor deposition (PVD), enabling the fabrication of high-purity nanoparticles, thin films, and nanostructured coatings with precise control over their composition and morphology. This versatile technology allows us to tailor surface functionalities such as improved optical, electrical, catalytic, mechanical, and chemical properties, depending on the target application.

Nanostine develops customized coating solutions for several strategic sectors. In aerospace and defence, we engineer coatings for radiofrequency (RF) components to mitigate the multipactor effect in satellite communications, as well as functional coatings for optical components and lenses used in imaging and sensing systems. We also enhance the performance of gas and electrochemical sensors by nanostructuring their active surfaces, improving sensitivity and detection limits. In the energy sector, our coatings increase the efficiency of electrodes for hydrogen production and other electrochemical devices, while in healthcare we are developing advanced surfaces for biomedical applications.

Our business model combines contract R&D, industrial coating services, and collaborative technology development with industrial partners. Through our flexible nanostructured coating platform, Nanostine enables the development of high-performance, customized solutions that accelerate innovation across multiple industries.
